As sincere in his statements as profound in his criticism, George Orwell went through poverty, but never stopped evolving, even hating authority, even experiencing life on the streets; he continued challenging himself to understand the deeper meaning of human life.
That is why he became a genius writer and created some of the best literature of all time.
Why?
Simple: he lived and felt life amongst many sides of society: rich and poor.

Try to do this: The next time you pass by a beggar… don’t feel sorry for him.
Feel equal. Feel connected. You are both human manifestations of something so much greater then your physical body or social position… Nor you are better than him nor is he better than you.

Again, you are equal.

About violence

These beings, that are acting out in those ways that you find so awful, are tormented and suffering in ways that you will not understand. Their horrible acts are extensions of that pain. We also have to say to you - no one who is not a vibrational match to that could be their victim.
